Every year, Shrove Tuesday marks the beginning of Nice's colourful Carnaval. The city's streets come alive with parades, musicians and entertainers, with every citizen taking part in some fashion. Residents disguise themselves with huge and festive masks, and the city celebrates the coming of spring.
